Obituary

 MILDRED WILLIAMS, was called to rest at home, surrounded by family, on Monday, Feb. 20, 2023. She was born on May 2, 1930 to Bennie Wright and Henrietta (Sloan) Wright in Walls, Miss. In 1991, Mildred became a devoted member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. James Bledsoe. Prior to, Mildred was a dedicated member of Shiloh Baptist Church and served during her membership as the President of the Nurses Guild and the Junior Usher Board. Mildred retired from St. Joseph Hospital, Cover-All Rental and Lutheran Hospital. To hold precious memories of her life are three sons, Willie J. Long of Tucker, Ga., Allen Q. Long of Indianapolis, Ind., Bob O. (Charlene) Williams of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three daughters, Dorothy J. Long of Conley, Ga., Delores Long of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Phyllis M. Black of Stafford, Va.; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ida Lamber, Norma Williams and Enid Brown. Mildred was preceded in death almost three weeks prior, by her devoted husband, Sidney Benjamin Williams; her parents, Bennie and Henrietta Wright; siblings, Leroy Wright, Robert Lee Wright, Loraine Clemons and Verdell Morrison. Homegoing service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at St. John Baptist Church, 2421 S. Hanna St., Fort Wayne (IN 46803), with visitation a half an hour prior to the service. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to Covington Memorial Funeral Home.
