Obituary

ROBERT CONNELL, SR.

 Mr. Robert Francis Connell, Sr., age 89 of Jonesboro, GA formerly of Weirton, WV was ushered into Heaven on March 20, 2023. Mr. Connell was in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until 1955, serving on the USS Ticonderoga during the Korean War. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a Scout Leader for many years. Mr. Connell was an avid hunter and loved the mountains. He was a longtime member of Finley United Methodist Church in Steubenville, OH., the American Legion,  and retired from the Weirton Steel Company in Weirton, WV with 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents: James E., Sr. and Edith Josephine Connell, siblings: James “Sonny” Connell, Jr., Dorothy Connell Martin, Thomas Connell, Jack Connell and Jerry Connell,  and his son: Daniel Patrick Connell. Mr. Connell is survived by his wife of 67 years: Ruth Barton Connell, children: Pennie Connell (Jeff) Arch of Powell, OH, Sonny (Peg) Connell of Owings, MD and Kym Connell (Brent) Barnhouse of Jonesboro,GA., brother: Tim (Chris) Connell of Weirton, WV, sisters: Carole (Sal) Trujillo of Weirton, WV and Patti Brock of Weirton, WV, grandchildren: Joshua (Faith) Barnhouse, Erika (Daniel) Jetton, Jacob (Joy) Barnhouse, Megan Connell, Katie (Corey) Zamenski, Hope Connell, Wesley Connell,  Elijah Connell and Shiloah Connell, great-grandchildren: Ivy Rose Jetton, Luke Aaron Jetton, Allie Hope Barnhouse, Audrey Anne Barnhouse, Lillian Ruth Zamenski and Asa Matthew Zamenski. A Memorial Service will be held at Highland Hills Memorial in Follansbee, WV at a later date.
