Angela Yvonne Yearby, 69, passed away at her residence in Chattanooga on July 7, 2024. She was born December 9, 1954, to Harold and Mildred Gay. Angela is a 1972 graduate of Howard High School and a 1976 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a bachelor’s degree in social services. She was employed by Social Security Administration as a claim representative and retired after 42 years of committed service. Angela was a claims expert and she trained and mentored many colleagues.

Angela is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 40 years. She served in many capacities, including treasurer. She won many awards for her work over the years. Angela was a member of New Vernon Grove Baptist Church for over 25 years. Angela liked to play bingo, solve puzzles and play cards. She TRULY loved her family. She enjoyed sending Bible verses daily to her friends and family. She would always be willing to give encouragement and to talk about the goodness of the Lord.

Angela loved traveling with her husband and most of all, she loved being waited on by him. He cared for her daily and he loved spoiling her.

SHE WILL TRULY BE MISSED BY HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Pearlie Robinson; father, Harold Gay; sons, Eric Yearby, Jimmy Yearby, Tracy Yearby and William Yearby; sister, Iris Gay.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Lee Yearby; mother, Mildred Gay; daughters, Lisa Yearby, of Brooklyn New York and Princess Hill and Cheree Yearby, of Chattanooga; sons, James (Misty) Yearby, of Chattanooga; LeeAngelo Yearby, of Longbeach, California and Harold (Marchelle) Yearby, of Irvin, Texas; grandson, TJ Yearby, of Glendale California; sister, Lorna (Randy) Malone; brother- in- law, James Eddie (Akilah) Yearby; sister-in-law, Brenda Joyce Yearby; special daughters, Adrienne Winston and Toks Brown.

Public viewing will be held 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, followed by at 12 noon funeral service. Interment: Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
