Obituary
On Sunday, January 14, 2024, Barbara Olivia Jackson, 93, died naturally and peacefully at home in San Luis Obispo, CA, in the loving presence of family. Born in New Jersey, throughout her life, Barbara lived on the east coast in the Midwest and finally on the west coast. She made deposits of positivity with people and in the community at every turn. At the age of 18, she received Christian baptism, beginning a lifelong walk with purpose. Barbara had over 22 years of experience in technical publishing and layout in Pennsylvania and DC. She spent over 25 years in K-12 education serving as a district advisory council coordinator with the Camden Board of Education in New Jersey. Barbara assisted with the publishing of multiple books in support of her faith. She was a skilled editor and a focused administrator, who ensured that the authors she worked with got their writing projects completed in a timely manner.Throughout her adult life, she was a campaign worker and election volunteer. She served as an Election Day poll worker in New Jersey and Michigan. Barbara instilled in her family the importance of education and making a mark in and on the world. She celebrated her family and friends; always wanting the best for everyone. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Boisy and Lue A. Moses; her baby (only) sister, who was also her best friend, Gail F. Moses and her husband Ernest D. Jackson. A public viewing will be held Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Palmer Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Home, Delta Chapel, 6301 W. St. Joe Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917. A private funeral and burial, also in Michigan, will be for family members only. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 4444 W. Grand River Ave., Lansing, Michigan 48906.
