Obituary
Mr. Billy Gene Gamble, age 85 of Florence, passed away at North Alabama Medical Center on April 5, 2024. Visitation will be held at Elkins Funeral Home on Sunday, April 7th from 6pm-8pm. Services will be held at the First Freewill Baptist Church of Florence on Monday, April 8th beginning at noon with Pastor Mike Cruise officiating. Burial will follow immediately after the services at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Gamble was a very likable, lovable, Christian man that would do anything for anyone. He was a member and deacon of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Florence and the Electrician Local 558. He enjoyed golf and sports in his free time. He especially enjoyed playing gold with his friend at the Blackberry Golf Course. Mr. Gamble loved everyone and everyone loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Merril M. “Bill” Gamble and Vera Linda Lowe; in-laws, William Maloney, Sr. and Nettie Hobson; sons, Thomas Michael Gamble and Greg Gamble; and brother in-law, Billy Maloney. Mr. Gamble is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Joyce Maloney Gamble; son, Jim Gamble; grandson, Zachary Ryan Gamble; daughter-in-law, Deanna Gamble (wife of the late Greg Gamble); granddaughter, Audrey Grace Gamble; great granddaughter, Abrey Elizabeth Gamble; sister-in-law, Susie Rickard (Tom Rickard); brother-in-law, Mike Maloney; and his best friend of many years, Clarence Prestage.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Carbine, Johnny Harrison, Robert Gamble, Alan Morgan, Tom Rickard, and Coner Rickard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Khan, Buddy Lee Armstrong, and Clarence Prestage.
