February 26, 1957 - June 16, 2023

Cindy Chilton (Grier) of Rainbow City, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her sleep, following a prolonged illness on Friday, June 16, 2023.
Cindy graduated Summa Cum Laude from Jacksonville State University and received her masters degree at the University of Alabama.
Throughout her career, she taught elementary school at Rome City Schools in Georgia and Etowah County Schools in Alabama. Cindy had a special gift for teaching and made a difference in so many children's lives. She was a social butterfly and never met a stranger. During the holidays, she loved to cook and host family get togethers. Cindy loved to read, especially when vacationing at the beach. During football season, you would find her watching Alabama football with husband Garry. She was an active member at her church and enjoyed volunteering. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Cindy is preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Turner; father, Royse Chilton; sisters, Vicki Chilton and Susan Chilton; Aunt, Sheila McGinnis.
She is survived by husband of 42 years, Garry Grier; daughter, Lindsey Gage (Asa); son, Joseph Grier; niece, Leslie Varney; grandchildren, Gabriel (Kathleen), Landon, Madeline, and Collin; Great-granddaughter Lucina.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 26, 2023 from 5 until 7pm at Crestwood Chapel.
