Obituary
Mr. David Phillip "Big Dave" VanBlarcum passed away on the early morning of Saturday, May 4, 2024. He was 77. Born April 28, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, Dave was the son of the late Harry Galen VanBlarcum and Betty Louise (Boehmer) VanBlarcum.
Dave attended North Kansas City High School, graduating proudly with the Class of 1965. Dave dedicated 44 years of service to Flint Ink as the Operations Director before retiring in 2008.
A faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church, Dave cherished his church community and especially his Sunday School class. He cherished his involvement in the Corvette Club of Indiana. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Hickory Stick Golf Club in Greenwood for many years.
Dave found joy in speed, whether on land or water, spending leisure time in fast cars and boating on Lake Monroe as well as the Lake of the Ozarks. He also cherished summers at the family cabin in Warrensburg, Missouri. Dave's dedication extended to his role as a caregiver for his beloved wife, Jacque (Gage) VanBlarcum, until her passing.
Dave is survived by his children, Phil (Dawn) VanBlarcum and Juli (David) White; grandchildren, Nathaniel White, Michael VanBlarcum, FCA Second Class Petty Officer Logan VanBlarcum, Joel (Sarah) Rice, Nathan (Jordan) Rice, Julia Rice and Ethan Rice; great-grandchild, Kaiser White; sister-in-law, Vicki VanBlarcum; nephew, Jason VanBlarcum; niece, Melissa Steward and cousins, Gary (Kathy) VanBlarcum and Gayla Eppright Christianson.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his loving wife of 32 years, Jacque Rae VanBlarcum; a son, William VanBlarcum; a great-granddaughter, Amelia White and his brother Charlie VanBlarcum.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Monday, May 13, 2024, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Greenwood. Entombment will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home.
In addition, there will be a Celebration of Life for Dave at the home of his son, Phil, Sunday, May 12, 2024 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. The address is 7749 E. 100 N., Indianapolis, IN 46259. Family and friends are invited.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has suggested those be offered to the Franciscan Hospice House of Indianapolis.
Dave's legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and love for life will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
