Obituary

Dennis A Meeks, 73, of Fort Wayne, passed away July 26, 2023 at his home in Ocklawaha Florida. Born August 29, 1949, he was a son of the late George and Ruth (Stemmler) Meeks. Dennie graduated high school from Concordia Lutheran High School in 1967. Dennie received a Certificate of Proficiency, 3rd Class Radio Telephone Operators License at the Career Academy (Broadcasting) Columbus, Ohio in 1968. Dennie served in the United States Army at Fort Knox KY from 1969-1971 in the Entertainment Division. Dennie retired as a Distribution Clerk in the Fort Wayne United States Postal Service with 22 years of service in 2004. Once retired, Dennie relocated to Ocklawaha Florida and became involved with the Shriners. Dennie served as a Colorguard Officer in the Ocala Legion of Honor. Dennie was a talented ventriloquist comedian and magician and entertainer. Dennie’s hobbies included beekeeping, skydiving and flying ultralights. Dennis is survived by his son Chris and his wife Lisa and grandchildren Arden and Avery, all of Fort Wayne; siblings David (Becky) Meeks and Pamela Meeks, sister-in-law Kathy Meeks and nieces and nephews. Dennie was preceded in death by his wife Diane, brother Daniel and his parents. A celebration of life open house will be held on Sunday, August, 20, 2023 from 2:00pm to 4:30pm at Emmanuel Community Church, 12222 US-24 W Fort Wayne, IN 46814. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
