Dixie Belle Tharp

November 20th, 1938 - October 2nd, 2023

Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dixie Tharp, who left this world on October 2nd, 2023, at the age of 84. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on November 20th, 1938, Dixie Cobb Tharp was a beloved daughter, spouse, sister, parent, grandparent, great grandparent, aunt, and friend.
Dixie was known for her green thumb and her chimichangas. She loved to work in the garden. Dixie loved plants and birds. She loved the sound of nature and loved to make the outdoors beautiful with plants. One of Dixie’s greatest accomplishments was receiving her high school diploma and going on to nursing school. Dixie was a natural nurse and loved helping her patients. She was also proud of her days as a bus driver for the Lake County School System. She took pride in helping the children on her route.
Dixie Tharp is survived by her children, Linda Simmons, Steve Tharp (Dana Tharp), Deborah Adams (Royce Adams), Robyn Dotson (John Dotson), Robert Tharp II (Amanda Tharp), 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, her siblings Frieda Johnson, Bonnie Troutman, Judy Mosier, Johnie Cobb and Carol Pollak and many dear nieces and nephews and several dear friends and her best friend Mary McGonigal.
Dixie is preceded in death by her loving husband Robert Tharp of 66 years. Her parents, Lee and Hazel Cobb and her siblings Frankie Cobb, Mary McClelland, Joyce Patterson, Betty Miller and Melvin Cobb and her son-in-law Bobby Simmons.
A memorial service will be held at Orange Ave Church of Christ 1511 E Orange Ave, Eustis Fl on October 14, 2023, at 11am with a meal following in honor of Dixie.
 In lieu of flowers Dixie has asked that donations be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
