Donna Sue Friend

Obituary

Donna Sue Friend, 72, of Hartville, MO passed away at Mercy hospital in Springfield, MO on Sunday, June 26, 2022. She was born on Monday, May 15, 1950 in Bonner Springs, KS to Cleo Bud DeMeranville and Rosa Lea Stevens.

Donna was a survivor. She battled many forms of cancer, several strokes and even a bad car accident. By her side, through every struggle, was her husband of 38 years Jerry Lee Friend. Donna didn’t let these struggles define who she was though. She loved to cook and to quilt, but mostly she loved getting together with family, especially her sisters, kids and grandkids. Donna’s happy place though, was at the farm with Jerry, riding around on the side by side and taking care of the animals or even just sitting on the porch sipping tea. Whether it was going down home or riding across the country with Jerry, she loved checking out the sights in all the different places they would go. Donna also loved the companionship of her little dogs Licky, Baby and then Angel which she had with her for the past 11 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Delilah Alberta and two brothers Buddy Lee DeMeranville and Cleotisno Steven DeMeranville.

Donna is survived by her husband Jerry Lee Friend, two sons Charles Swanson (wife Missy) and Bud Swanson, four daughters Melissa Wilson (husband Joe), Michelle Bentz (husband Frank), Lisa Zook (husband Aaron) and Jennifer Parkhurst, three brothers Bruce DeMeranville, Eric DeMeranville and Jimmy Baxter, three sisters Violet Mcelhany, Charlotte Wilson, Faith Stapp, her step-dad Jim Baxter and many nieces, nephews, grandkids and great-grandkids.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W.
