Obituary

Mrs. Daisy Marie Markum, Muncie, passed away on the late morning of Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Yorktown Manor. She was 96. Daisy was born May 24, 1927 in Woodbury, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Edna E. (Moyer) Bush.
Daisy attended Cannon County High School in Woodbury, Tennessee and was a member of the graduating Class of 1945. 
Daisy had been employed at the nuclear energy plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee where the atomic bombs used in World War II were developed and built. After moving to Muncie, she was employed at Ball State University in Dining Services and retired in 1990 after 20 years of service. 
In her leisure time, Daisy enjoyed painting and had studied under the legendary Bob Ross. She also enjoyed caring for her flowers and watching the birds from her front porch swing. 
Daisy was a fantastic cook and is known for her dried apple pies. She was a wife and mother first and lived to care for her family, seeing to their needs. She also looked forward to attending the sporting events of her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
Daisy was a 40 year member of the Towne Acres Church of Christ in Muncie and loved her church and church family.
Daisy is survived by her children, Barbara (Steve) Schlegel, Judy (L. Charles) Hammer, Marsha Andrews, Ronald Markum (Marta) and Peggy (Tony) McCormick; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Randall (Dolas) Markum; a sister-in-law, Beatrice Fletcher as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband, Lonnie Markum, whom she married in Rossville, Georgia, November 1, 1946 and her siblings, Alden Bush, William R. Bush, Lillie Taylor, Treva Hillman and Zelpha Earls.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Friday, August 25, 2023 at Garden View Funeral Home, Muncie, with burial following at Gardens of Memory, also in Muncie.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
