Edna "Marie" Tanner, 95, of rural Lewisburg passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at her home.
Born in Milton on August 19, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Milton Sr. and Mary Ida (Koons) Hauck. She was married to the late David I. Tanner. Together they celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Marie was a 1948 graduate of Milton High School and was a member of United in Christ Lutheran Church, Lewisburg. She worked for Philco, Montgomery Silk Mill, Milton Shoe Factory, American Home Foods, Pardoe's Perky Peanuts, and the Lewisburg High School Cafeteria.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren, attending the Lewisburg Senior Center, making apple dumplings, doing needlepoint, and tending her flower garden.
Marie is survived by four children and their spouses Rosemarie and Timothy Stitzel of New Columbia, Terry and Karen Tanner of New Columbia, Anna and Dennis Wolfe of Lewisburg, and Carl and Lorri Tanner of Milton, nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren, and five sisters Shirley Troxell of New Columbia, Dora Funk of Watsontown, Judy Troxell of New Columbia, Roberta Danowsky of Lewisburg and Rebecca Guffey of Lewisburg.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, four brothers Charles Hauck, Milton Hauck Jr., Nelson Hauck, and Dorsey Hauck, and five sisters Kate Marks, Thelma Tyson, Jane Snyder, Ruth Hauck, and Beatrice Hauck.
Friends and relatives will be received on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 11:30 to 12:30 at the Shaw Funeral Home 400 N. Front St. Milton. Funeral services will begin at 12:30 with Rev. Justin Lingenfelter officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
