Obituary
Edward Lewis (Lewie) Nixon, 92, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday January 8, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 31, 1930, the son of Orville Jay and Edith M (Anderson) Nixon. He married the love of his life Dorothy E. Herbert and they celebrated 59 years together.
Lewie retired from Ball State University as a Supervisor of the paint Dept. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War as a medic.
He was a former guitarist/singer of the Weaver Nixon Country Swingers Band, along with his wife, sister-in-law Phyllis and brother-in- law Jr.
Lewie was a member of Indy Steel guitar club. His passions were playing guitar and Pedal Steel, singing Karoake with his nephew Joe Nixon, Dee Dee Lykins (who was like a daughter to him) and other special family members. He loved fishing, oil painting, and spending time with his family
Survivors include his daughter Pamela S. Dobbs, Mary Ann Murray (husband Rich). Grandsons, Justin Dobbs (fiance Kati Cooper), William Murray; Granddaughters, Tasha Cook (husband Gary), April Apking (husband Dan); Great grandchildren Arianne and Tyler Cook, Chance Nixon, Lincoln Apking, Zaine and Zander Murray.
Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; son, Chris E. Nixon; Sisters, Viriginia (Sis) Slocum, Imogene Felton; Brothers, James, Walter, Donald and Glen Nixon.
Calling will be Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Garden View Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Service will be on Monday January 16, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Springport, IN on W. Co Rd 800 N. in Henry County, IN. There will be a carry in following the burial at the Memorial United Baptist Church, 2911 S. Phillip Dr.. Muncie, IN 47302
