Obituary
Evelio Cabezas, 96, Born June 12 th , 1927, in Esperanza Villa Clara, Cuba,
peacefully entered eternal rest on February 26th, 2024. He grew up in
Esperanza Villa Clara, Cuba. Evelio was a sugar cane worker and paved
streets in Cuba. Evelio was a hard worker with a great work ethic. In his
spare time in Cuba, Evelio loved life and enjoyed his beautiful island of
Cuba. Evelio met his first and only true love, Marta Zamora in his birth town
of Esperanza Villa Clara, Cuba when he was twenty years old. Evelio and
Marta went on to marry on August 1 st , 1952. Once married, through their
love, they had their 1 st child Pedro Cabezas. Evelio Cabezas Immigrated to
the United States, land of the free in 1955 and in 1956 his wife Marta and
son Pedro joined Evelio in the United States leaving some family members
and all that they knew behind. Despite leaving it all behind, in Evelio still
resonated the desire to progress and be an outstanding citizen of the
United States as he was in Cuba. The Cabezas settled in Elizabeth, NJ.
Evelio and Marta were then blessed with their second child, Sandra
Cabezas. Evelio was a respected citizen in Elizabeth, NJ. Evelio worked in
the Shoprite warehouse (Wakefern) from 1966 through 1989 when he
retired. Evelio and Marta became United State Citizens, this being one of
several proud moments in Evelio’s life. Evelio was blessed with several
grandchildren: Victoria, Peter, and Frank. Evelio was proud of his children
and family. In 1989, he, Marta and Sandra relocated to Hialeah, Florida
where he purchased a lovely home. There, Evelio planted and nurtured
many trees in the back yard including mango and avocado. But one of
Evelio’s biggest loves was playing dominoes. For Evelio, every social
gathering had to have an energetic game of dominoes. On February 26,
2024, Evelio passed peacefully, and was surrounded by his wife Marta, and
his two children, Pedro and Sandra. Evelio will be forever missed, and his
legacy will be carried though his family for years to come. May the Lord
comfort and hold you in his arms until the day we meet again.
