Obituary
EVELYN POWELL BENSON
Evelyn McCall Powell Benson, 97, of Concord passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022. She was born October 27, 1924 in Whitmire, SC, a daughter of the late William Alcie McCall and Ella Whitt McCall. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charlie Powell and O.D. Benson, a grandson, Jason Dwight Jones, sisters, Ellen, Helen, Clara, brothers, Clyde, Leroy, James and Bill. Evelyn had previously worked in textiles at Terry Products and then at F.L. Smith Drugs as a pharmacist assistant. Evelyn loved to dance. She also loved her peanut brittle and her snacks. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Annex Chapel officiated by Rev. Harry Andrews. Her family will receive friends prior from1:00 to 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Lynne Powell Jones, sons, Mike Powell (Robbie) and Jimmy Powell, grandchildren, Amy Rebecca Jones, Julie Powell Morgan, Allison Gail Powell, greatgrandchildren, Marinda Lynn Martin, Jaycee Grace Garver, Jacob Dwight Jones, McKenzie Lackey, Talon Lackey, Nori Lackey and Parker Rylan Whitmire.
