Obituary
Frank Michael Balchunas of Vero Beach, FL died on January 20, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Chicago and raised in Cicero, IL. Frank graduated from St. Laurence High School. He then went on to proudly serve in the Vietnam War with the Air Force Security Police Squadron. Upon his return, he settled in Riverside, IL, where he raised his family. He loved the University of Notre Dame and Eastern Illinois University.
He was a loving husband, of 50 years, to Margaret (nee Marino). Loving father of Melissa Knox and Kimberly (Jeremy) Gasow. Fun loving grandpa of Kendall Morgan Knox. Dear brother of Nadine (late Joseph) Przychodni. Dearest brother-in-law to Judith M. James and Mary Frances (William) Wieland. Loving uncle of Craig (Lauren) Przychodni, Cheryl (Jason) Lynch, Kevin (Erin) Przychodni, James (Diana) Jurgovan, Daniel (Selena) Jurgovan, Tony (Whitney) Jurgovan, Janice (Peter) Neokratis, and Beth (Duncan) Popkins. Fond great-uncle to many. Known as "Big Kahuna" to many other family members and cherished friend to many. His sense of humor carried him through the many challenges in his life. He loved a good party and made fast friends easily.
Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mae Balchunas, and his in-laws John and Dolores Marino.
He will be dearly missed by all of those who loved him.
A memorial visitation will take place on February 21, 2024 at the Cox- Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach from 12 - 1:30 pm with a Funeral Service at 1:30 pm.
Inurnment will be private at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL.
