Frank J Capan

Frank J Capan (93), formerly of Ross Township, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 19, 2023. He was born in Pittsburgh to the late Frank and Margaret Capan. A few days after marrying his beloved wife, Ruth, Frank was deployed in the Korean War. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service. An active member of his community and business owner for much of his life, Frank operated McKnight Flowers for over 30 years. As a previous member and President of the Northern Allegheny Chamber of Commerce, Frank was recognized with the Arcadia Award and Lifetime Achievement Award. He was also recognized by Ross Township for his dedication and service to the township. As an active member of St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church, Frank served as the President of the Parish Council, participated in the choir, the players group and the annual festival. Later in his life, Frank found love a second time with Patricia Pschirer. Frank lived life to the fullest. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed entertaining and playing cards with friends as well as traveling. With a smile on his face and a Manhattan in hand, Frank made an impact on everyone he met. He did it his way.
Frank will be greatly missed by his family including his daughters Vicki (Rick) McCosby, Cathy (Charlie) Shea, Sandy (Tom) Kuhn, his six grandchildren: Apryl (Will) Cendrowski, Heidi (Josh) Wiegand, Christine (Justin) Simon, Char (Rachel) Shea, Sarah (Michael) Pielin, and Tom (Jessica) Kuhn. Frank had eight great-grandchildren: Katherine and Joshua Cendrowski, Jacob Wiegand, Camden Shea, John, Jimmy and Sadie Pielin and Ben Kuhn. Survivors also include his brother David (Sharon) Capan, brother-in-law, George (Mel) Huerbin. Extended family includes Donna Merrit, Nancy (Brian) Newhouse, Joann (Michael) Grady, Mary (Greg) Altman, Jackie (Joe) Garrity, and Mike (Katie) Pschirer and families.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife Ruth in 1995 and wife Patricia in 2015.
