Frank Ward, Jr.

Frank Jerome Ward, Jr, 80, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on January 16, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born in Aberdeen, MS, on September 21, 1943, to Frank J. Ward Sr., and Imogene McMath Ward.
He was raised in St. Louis, MO where he attended and graduated from Sumner High School in 1962. He attended Lane College in Jackson, TN, where he was a student football coach and became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. in 1963.
Also, at Lane College, he met Allene Taylor, the love of his life. On November 27, 1964, they were united in holy matrimony. To this union, two children were born Tracye Lynnette and Kimberly Michelle.
After completing his education at Lane College in 1966, he moved to Chattanooga to be with his wife. He worked in various professions including the Chattanooga Police Department and The State of Tennessee Department of Revenue where he retired from in 2000.
While working for the State of Tennessee, in 1985 Governor Lamar Alexander appointed him as Colonel of the Governor’s Staff due to his valor and patriotism. He also followed the TN Vols football and basketball teams. He proudly wore the TN Vols clothing to show his support.
He loved his family dearly, especially those great-grandchildren. He went on several family trips to Disney World, Gatlinburg, and Myrtle Beach with the entire family.
He never met a stranger and he loved to talk. He was known by his family and close friends as Jerome. Some of his friends called him Gemo, a name given to him at Lane College.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank J. Ward, Sr., and Imogene McMath Ward and Naomi Hall (great-granddaughter).
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 59 years, Allene Taylor Ward, and three children: Tracye Ward, Kimberly (David) Jackson, and Frank Ward III. Grandchildren: Ashley (Cameron) Hall, Taylor Jackson, and David Jackson III (Tre’). Great-grandchildren: Cameron Hall, Jr and Kayci Jackson. Sister: Dr. Sandra (Henry) Chaney and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Public viewing will be held from 2:00 PM-6:00 PM, Friday, January 26, 2024, at the funeral home.
A 10:00 AM funeral service will be held, Saturday, January 27, 2024, in the chapel of the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, EAST.
