In Loving Memory of

Gary Robert Newton

February 20th, 1956 - February 19th, 2026

Obituary

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Gary Robert Newton on 2/19/2026, at the age of 69.
Born February 20 ,1956 to Fredrick (Bud) and Patty Newton in Roseburg, Oregon. He moved to Gasquet, CA at the age of seven with his parents and sister Kelly Newton.
Gary was shaped by the forests and the hardworking culture of the Pacific Northwest. That environment formed the backbone of who he became, resilient, capable, and steady. He started his logging career at the age of 20 with his father and SNAP Logging. There his father Bud, taught him how to buck and fall old growth Redwood in the area. He co-founded 3 Star Logging with his father and George Bachman. Later, he led multiple partnerships contracting with Simpson/Green Diamond Timber company. It was demanding, physical, and often dangerous work that required focus, courage, and precision. He did it without complaint and without fanfare, just with quiet commitment. He believed in quality work, and production while maintaining the highest integrity. And simply, that’s who he was.
He met Deanna (Dee) Hensel in high school and shortly after college they began dating and married in March 1980.  They have been together ever since. What began as young love became a lifetime of partnership.  Together they built a marriage rooted in loyalty, shared history, and commitment. Through every season of life, they stood side by side, raising two children and later welcoming seven grandchildren into their lives.
Family was where his steadiness was felt most. As a husband, father, grandfather, and brother he was calm and rational, never too high, never too low. He listened carefully and without judgment.  When life felt overwhelming, he was the one who steadied it. He modeled strength without noise and leadership without ego.
That same steadiness softened into playfulness with his grandchildren, who knew him as “Pop Pop.” No matter where they were or what they were doing, he was always able to find a way to wrestle with them, tease them, and make them laugh until they couldn’t catch their breath. He paid attention, he was engaged, he showed his love by being present.
It is never easy to say goodbye to someone who has been such a steady presence in our lives. The space he leaves behind is real, and he will be deeply missed. We take comfort in knowing that his life was full of purpose, hard work, devotion, and love. He gave himself fully to his family. He lived in a way that was consistent and honorable. And because of that, his influence does not end here, it continues in us, in our children, and in the way we choose to live.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick Newton and Patty Newton.
He is survived by numerous relatives whom he loved dearly. His wife of 46 years Deanna (Dee) Newton, his sister Kelly, son Kyle and his wife Suzette, daughter Kallie and seven grandchildren Vander & Donato Ray, Kysen, Kyngston, Liryka, Kylette & Kyle Newton
