Obituary
George William Payne III, Greenwood, IN, passed away on the afternoon of January 13, 2023. He was 51 years old. George was born in Beech Grove, IN, to his parents George and Cathie Payne. He graduated from Franklin Central High School, class of 1990. George attended IUPUI, where he graduated with a Finance and Real Estate Finance degree, class of 1996.
George worked as a Real Estate Appraiser for Street Links. George attended Garfield Christian Church and later Vineyard Community Church. George was Saved and enjoyed his lasting church relationships for many years. When he was younger, George enjoyed taking trips to Raccoon Lake with his family. They enjoyed water skiing and spending time on their family boat and near the water. Bowling and mini-golf were some of George’s favorite activities as well. George was an Indianapolis sports fan that loved to catch the IU, Pacers, or the Colts games whenever he got the chance. George loved computers, trying new restaurants, and listening to music; he had an affinity for the bands, Linkin Park, Korn and Nickelback. George loved being a dad and was always described as a supportive addition to his family. The memories created will be cherished by those he leaves behind.
George is survived by his mother, Cathie Payne; his father, George W. Payne; his sister, Christina (Omar) Pantoja; ex-wife, Amy Payne; his children, Ashley Payne and Corin Zacheous McKeel; his nieces and nephews, Faith Pantoja and Judah Pantoja; his aunts and uncles, Alma and Steve Smith, Donna and Jay Doty, and Steve and Patricia Payne; his cousins, Angie (Jason) Bratina, Joel (Lindsey) Hall, Steve Payne, Casey Payne and many other cousins; his grandfather, Dwight Dwigans.
George is preceded in death by his grandparents, Edith Dwigans along with Mary and Donald Dewey.
A visitation for George will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. The funeral service will be on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 12:30 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 1:30pm.
