Obituary

Herschel ¨Turk¨ James Roper, born to Theodore and Thomelia Roper on May 30, 1938 in Lansing, Michigan. Herschel championed life with a noble and courageous spirit. At the age of 85, on February 11, 2024, he gracefully embraced eternal peace.

Arrangements for Mr. Roper are as follows:

Visitation: Friday, February 23, 2024 / 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM / Riley Funeral Home - 426 W. St. Joseph Street - Lansing, MI 48933

Family Hour: Friday, February 23, 2024 / 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM / Riley Funeral Home - 426 W. St. Joseph Street - Lansing, MI 48933

Funeral Service: Saturday, February 24, 2024 / 12:00 PM / First Presbyterian Church - 510 W. Ottawa Street - Lansing, MI 48933

Interment: Saturday, February 24, 2024 / 2:00 PM / Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens - 4444 W. Grand River Ave. - Lansing, MI 48906

As we bid farewell to Herschel James Roper, we do so with hearts full of gratitude for the blessing of his presence in our lives. May his soul find eternal peace. May his memory continue to inspire acts of kindness and love in us all. May he be remembered for all of his days as a loving, caring, generous man earning the everlasting forgiveness and love of the Lord. Above all, may he never lose another game of chess, golf, or cards for all eternity.
