James Anderson

Obituary

James H. Anderson, Greenwood, IN, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024. He was 87 years old. Jim was born in Indianapolis, IN to his parents Elbert Howard and Mary Frances Anderson. He graduated from Southport High School, class of 1954. Jim married his wife, Sheila Anderson, on November 26, 1977 and together they shared 46 years of marriage together. 
Jim worked in the trucking industry until he started working at the Greenwood Post Office in 1980. He then went to the motor vehicle service for the United States Postal Service. Jim retired in 2004 after over 15 years of service. Jim was a member of LifePoint Church with his wife and daughter since March of 1992. Jim loved the Lord and his family. He also loved running and ran seventeen Mini Marathons and two full marathons. He enjoyed helping children read through Oasis. He loved animals, especially BW Catt. Jim enjoyed making CDs for his family and friends. He loved high school basketball, along with the Pacers, IU, and Butler. He also liked the Colts, Cubs, and Yankees. After retirement, Jim enjoyed working for Hoosier Basketball Magazine for several years. He enjoyed taking people to medical appointments and to work. He and his daughter, Jaimie, enjoyed watching Frasier together. Jim cherished when he could spend  time with his cousins, Bob Anderson and Chuck Chambers. He enjoyed his role as Grampy and Grandpa Anderson. He was proud of his work on the Trails Advisory Board and the King’s Men Chess Club.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sheila; his children, Shellie (Dennis) Bohannon, Scott (Ginger) Anderson and Jaimie Anderson; his grandchildren, Andrea, Brett, Hilary, Trent, Olivia, Maryssa, and Aubrey; his 14 great grandchildren; his siblings, Laura Lou Anderson; his nieces and nephews, Suzie Prichard, Matt Collins and Mike Groce.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Mary Anderson; his infant siblings, Byron and Julia Anderson; his nephew, Craig Groce
A visitation for Jim will be held on January 25, 2024 at LifePoint Church, 8540 Combs Rd, Indianapolis, IN, 46237, from 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm. The celebration of life will immediately follow on January 25, 2024 at 4:00 pm. 
For those choosing to attend, please dress casually and comfortably.
