Obituary
James W. Grice, 76 of Indianapolis passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born to the late Orton and Irene Grice in Tyler Texas, and grew up in Shreveport Louisiana before moving to Indianapolis.
James enjoyed fishing, going to the beach, attending the Indy 500, but primarily spending time with his family. Jim dedicated his life to Jesus as an adult. He enjoyed listening to gospel music and cherished his opportunity to meet the Gaithers in person. He was also a fan of Duck Dynasty as it often reminded him of growing up in Louisiana.
Jim served in the United States Army, and on his return, assisted veterans throughout his career, working for the VA and the Ohio Veterans Home. He was actively involved with the POW/MIA mission and was a lifelong VFW member. He loved to tell stories about being in the Army and the people he would meet at the VA Hospital.
James leaves behind a wife Sharon Grice; sons Erik (Theresa) Grice and Will Grice; stepchildren Susan (Rob) Plahitko and Daniel (Jody) Wilhoite; nine grandchildren and a sister Jeanette (Tom) Sessions. He is proceeded in death by both parents and his brother Thomas Grice.
Visitation will be Friday, June 7, 2024 from 11:00 AM until the time of service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. A burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with full military honors
