Jorge A. Mejia, 62, of Tamarac, Florida, went on to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 9, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Bleidys Quintana, as well as her children, Jorianna and Rachel. Also left to cherish his memory are his eldest daughters, Georgina and Stephanie, along with their children, his beloved grandchildren, Brandon, Jaeden, Berlin and Makaela and John. He is preceded in death by his parents, Miguel Angel and Rosa Maria, as well as his nieces, Veronica and Carol.

Jorge was born on April 29, 1959, in San Salvador, El Salvador to his parents Miguel and Rosa. He is survived by his siblings, Mauricio, Miguel Tomas, Luz Maria, Oscar A. Julio C., Jose A., and Blanca Estella. He studied in San Salvador through the 5th grade until he moved to the United States with his family in 1971. He participated in the Belmont High School ROTC in Los Angeles, CA, where he lived until 1980, when he moved to South Florida.

As a young man, Jorge enjoyed dancing, playing soccer, and learning about aviation. He later went on to work with Delta Airlines and FedEx cargo in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His pastimes included watching documentaries on war planes, history, and Christianity. He also enjoyed watching football, some of his favorite teams were the Washington Redskins and The University of Miami’s Hurricanes football team – which his eldest daughters are big fans of. He was also a big fan of the Salvadoran national soccer team, of whom his old friend, Hugo Perez, is currently coaching. Jorge most recently began working as a truck driver and enjoyed being on the road, exploring our country, and visiting family whenever possible.

Anyone who met Jorge knew of his boisterous laugh, his larger-than-life personality, and his passion to share the Word of God. He loved family and enjoyed capturing precious moments on camera. Jorge shared Jesus with everyone he encountered and especially with those he loved. He had an incredible gift of service, sharing his time to spread the gospel to others.
