Obituary
Judith (Judy) Flippo Wood 1941-2024
Judy Wood, 83, of Palm City went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 18, 2024, in Hobe Sound.
A lifelong Floridian, Judy was born on March 2, 1941, in Miami. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1958 and attended the University of Florida. After marrying and having two sons, she and her family relocated to Martin County in 1987.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Harvey Alfred (Al) Wood III, her sons Stephen Douglass Wood (Paula) of Palm City, and Keith Alfred Wood (Emily) of Enterprise, AL, along with her grandchildren, Victoria Ann Wood, Elizabeth Frances Wood, and James DuPont Wood of Enterprise, AL, and Emmy Zerby of Tuscaloosa, AL, as well as several nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Sarah Flippo; her sister, Nina Yaeger; brother-in-law, Henry Yaeger, and infant siblings Peggy and Skipper Flippo.
She was, first and foremost, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. A longtime employee of Delta Air Lines, she and Al traveled the world together before having children. While raising her boys, she was the administrator of the family construction business in Miami Lakes and worked as a realtor in Martin County. In later years, as her health allowed, she volunteered her time with the Republican Party of Martin County, as well as the Florida Council on Aging. She loved shopping, walking for exercise, watching comedies, visiting with her grandchildren and listening to Elvis Presley.
Services will be held on Friday, June 28, at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City. The family will receive visitors in the chapel from 1:00-2:00PM followed by a memorial service and burial at 2:00PM.
