Obituary

Judy Elwess passed away peacefully at home on March 16, 2026.

Born July 26, 1939, she was one of two children born to C. Douglas & M. Rosella Howard, in Spokane, Washington. She graduated in 1957 from David Douglas High School.

Judy started her banking career working for US Bank out of High School and was with them until she retired.

Judy married Paul A. Elwess 4/02/1960, Paul precedes her in death 8/09/2004.

Judy is survived by her 3 children, son, Curtis (Terri) Elwess; daughter, Yvonne Neiss; son, Kevin Elwess; She also leaves behind her five Grandchildren, Kristin Brownlee, Brandon Toombs, Britni Grandy, Joshua and Chance Toombs; and her five Great-Grandchildren Lexi, Addi, Brooklyn, Lilly and Oliver.

She was preceded in death by her father, C. Douglas Howard, her mother M. Rosella Howard, brother, Dennis Howard and great-grandchild, Avery Rayne Toombs.

Judy will be remembered for her warmth and gentleness, she lived a life filled with adventure, laughter, and devotion to those closest to her.  Judy volunteered with her support of the local run for Noah’s Quest every year, and the deep love she had for her family and friends. Her strength, generous heart, and the memories she created will remain with all who knew and loved her.

Judy’s internment at Willamette National Cemetery will be a Private Family celebration of life, where she will be laid to rest with her husband Paul A. Elwess.

Memorial contributions in Judy’s name may be made to Noah’s Quest.
