Obituary

Kay Irene McGarry

October 21st, 1949 – May 23rd, 2023

Kay McGarry, 73, of Stuart, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin Korneta and Bernice Pinsack, her three brothers Ed (Jan) Korneta, Bob (Jean) Korneta, and Jerry, and her beloved husband Martin McGarry Sr.

Kay is survived by her brother Fred (Marsha) Korneta, her two children Lisa (Brandon) Carrow and John (Crystal) Giaimo, her stepson Martin (Jamie) McGarry Jr., her three grandchildren, Joey Cotton, Martin McGarry III, and Mackenzie McGarry; along with countless loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was born in Chicago, Illinois where she went to Fenger Highschool and soon after graduating brought life to her two cherished children John and Lisa. Kay was a very hardworking, family-oriented woman who in her early years worked for Casualty Construction Inc., UNR Leavitt and eventually for the infamous Waterfront Pub. This is where she would come to find so many of her life-long friends as well as her better half in life or as she liked to say, her “rock” in life, in Marty McGarry Sr.  They would go on to happily retire together in Stuart, Florida.

Upon her later years Kay enjoyed boating, walking the bridges of Stuart, the occasional downtown shopping trip, bowling night with the girls, discovering new restaurants to treat her friends and family at, and of course, happy hour. Kay truly did live a fulfilled life as she would always say that she wouldn’t trade what she had “for all the tea in China.”

There will not be any public services held.
