Kenneth Arnold Martin
Mr. Kenneth Arnold Martin, 82, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday night, April 26, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.  Mr. Martin was born May 18, 1940, in Surry County, the son of the late Elisha and Emma Pell Martin.  Kenneth served our country in the United States Army from 1963 until 1965, just as the Vietnam War was emerging.  He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 30 years of dedicated service.  He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Lewis Spencer; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Brian and Kristine Martin; his grandchildren, Christopher Spencer and Kayla Reynolds, Jessica and Justin Sola, and Joshua Martin; a great-granddaughter, Madeline Spencer; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Gary and Pat Martin and Mike Martin; several nieces and nephews; and his special fur baby, Beth.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Snow Martin; four sisters, Grace Martin, Jessie Melton, Aileen Martin, and Carolyn Collins; and two brothers, George Martin and Elisha “Junior” Martin.  A graveside service will be held Monday, May 1, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens, with Dr. Jonathan Casstevens officiating.  Military honors will be conducted at the conclusion of the service by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard.  No formal visitation will be held at the funeral home; however, family and friends are invited to Kenneth’s home on Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 PM.  The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by Dr. Mark Dodd, Crystal Collins (niece), and the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
