Obituary
Laurie J. Roby, age 68, passed away
peacefully at the Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Florida
on Sunday, March 6th, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. She bravely
fought a very rare form of cancer for over 5 years, her strength and
determination was immeasurable.
Laurie is survived by her husband of 36 years, William Roby, her
daughter Sasha Hoppenworth, son Derick Roby, daughter Mary Elizabeth Roby,
granddaughter Leia Hoppenworth, mother Patricia Schmidt, brother Doug Schmidt
(Jodi), brother Craig Schmidt (Leslie), brother Rodney(Mig), sister Elisa Lewis
(Mark), and 10 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother Gary and father Virgil
Schmidt.
A 1972 graduate of Marshalltown
Iowa High
School, Laurie went on to obtain an AA in Fashion Merchandising,
an AA in Paralegal Studies, and a BA in Finance from the University of Iowa.
Laurie moved from Iowa to Florida in 1986 with her husband Bill and
her daughter Sasha. She worked primarily in the legal and insurance claims
fields for several years. Laurie later became a full-time homemaker where she
totally devoted herself to taking care of her family.
Laurie was an avid pet lover who loved her pet and her pets
ardently loved her back. She was a strong supporter of conservative causes and
loved her state and country. She was a trailblazer in alternative health, her
advice and expertise, which she shared with those she loved, was well ahead of
her time. Laurie enjoyed traveling with her family to various places around the
country and the world. She was a loyal Fox News fan as well as many other
conservative news programs.
In her free time, Laurie enjoyed spending time with her family,
binge watching programs, watching movies with her husband, reading, and
enjoying the comfort of her beloved dogs.
Laurie was fiercely loyal towards her family and had many
friends and relatives that loved her. She will be deeply missed.
Her Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. on March 25th, 2022,
at Forest Hills Memorial Park , 2001 SW Murphy Rd, Palm City,
FL 34990
