Obituary
Lee Yerrick, a pillar of strength and love, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2024, at the remarkable age of 100. Lee was born on July 6, 1923, in Allegan, Michigan, on the Lussenden family farm.. At the tender age of 11, Lee experienced the loss of her beloved mother and her father relocated the family to Grand Rapids. She found solace and joy in music, earning a lead role in her high school choral program and becoming a cherished member of church choirs throughout her life. She has entertained many friends and family with her accordion music and playing the piano and organ. Lee's life journey took a serendipitous turn when she met Don Yerrick while rowing on Gun Lake. Their love story blossomed over shared adventures, including roller skating and square dancing, and they soon embarked on a lifetime of love together. From Grand Rapids to Florida and back to Lansing, their bond only grew stronger. Professionally, Lee left an indelible mark, working diligently in various roles, including at Sears in the payroll department and later retiring from Auto Owners Credit Union. However, it was in the quiet moments and shared adventures with Don that Lee found true fulfillment. Their travels in a trusty trailer brought them closer to cherished friends from church, sharing laughter, stories, and hobo meals under the open sky. Lee's generous spirit extended beyond her immediate circle; she devoted time to mentoring both children and older adults, nurturing their reading skills and fostering a love for learning. In her community, Lee and Don were active members of Mount Hope Church in Lansing. Lee's Saturdays were spent with cherished friends at the "Book Club," where laughter and shared stories filled the air, creating cherished memories that will endure for years to come. Lee's love for literature and storytelling found expression in her passion for crossword puzzles and writing. She penned captivating tales of her childhood on the farm, weaving together memories for generations to come. Lee's legacy of love and resilience lives on through her children, M. Sue (Rick) Taylor and Gerald Yerrick, as well as through cherished memories of her late daughter, Donna Stacy who passed on April 22, 2016 and her late husband, Don, who passed on January 29, 2005.
