Obituary
Leroy Russell of Sandy, Oregon
October 30, 1932-August 19, 2026
He was born in Walsenburg, Colorado to Marvin Russell and
Sarilda (Winburn) Russell.
He was the 8th of 9 children. He graduated Sandy Union High School
in 1952.
He attended Portland State University. He was a wrestler in
high school, college and senior league.
He married Sally Lane on August 10, 1958. They lived in
Portland for 4 years, then moved to Sandy Oregon. They were married for 68 years. He was truly
the wind beneath her wings. He supported her in all her endeavors.
He worked as a printer at Portland State for 35 years. He
also worked at various other printing jobs over the years. He was a hard worker, at times working
3 jobs to support his family.
He is preceded in death by his son James (Jimmy) Russell. He
is survived by his wife Sally Russell, daughters Kathy (Russell) Marchant, Lori (Russell)
Cox (Stan), Kelly Russell, Kevin Russell (Andrea). 13 grandchildren. 20 great grandchildren.
His brother Charles Russell (Robin).
He attended the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Where he was active in many callings. Leroy and Sally served a mission in Cebu,
Philippines April 2001-November 2002.
Leroy was an avid hunter/outdoorsman. Predominantly archery.
He enjoyed being outside in nature. He worked hard on the small farm to provide for his
family. He instilled in his family and others the importance of work ethics. He could fix most
things with duct tape, bailing twine, and wire.
He was a practical man with good solid common sense.
He
supported his family and others with strength, stoicism and faith.
