Obituary
Lynwood “Shorty” Minnick, 84, of Christiansburg, VA went home to Heaven on Friday, September 22, 2023.
Shorty is preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter B. and Arlie Minnick; brothers, Donald (Buck) Minnick, Jack Minnick; sister, Shelby Jean Thompson; infant granddaughter, Allison Young.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Nannie Dunn Minnick she was the love of his life; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Cindy Minnick; daughter, Jennifer Minnick Young and partner Jody Martin; he also leaves behind his treasures, his grandsons, Jacob Minnick and Colton Young who he instilled his love of cars passing down the family tradition; sisters-in-law; Eloise Minnick and Ruby Starkey; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Thompson, Andrew Dunn; several nieces and nephews.
Shorty spent most of his life working and restoring antique cars. Shorty worked at Teel Chevrolet and then Shelor’s in the auto body shop. Shorty was owner of Shorty’s Automotive Body Shop for over 30 years. He and his son Dennis worked for over 30 years together and they worked on so many car projects. Family was important to Shorty and he will be missed. Your family and friends will always know you were a car legend.
The Minnick family would like to thank Rebecca Rose for her dedication and love to Shorty.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at noon in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Buford Linkous, Reverend Jason Vaughan, and Reverend Ryan Rose officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
