Obituary

Marilou Torrano Tacderas, passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2023 due to hypertension at her
home in Miami Florida. She was 70 years old. Her family is saddened by her sudden death. Marilou was
born on March 20, 1953 to Nemesio Salvador Tacderas and Wilhelmina Flotildez Torrano in Santo
Domingo, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at the University of
Santo Tomas, Manila Philippines.
Malou as she is fondly called, migrated to the United States to pursue her nursing career in the mid 70’s.
She initially worked in Vero Beach Florida, then later move to Parkway Regional Hospital in Miami
Florida. Her last employer was Palmetto General Hospital as an ICU Nurse Manager and retired in 2020.
Malou is survived by her 3 brothers and sister, and their spouses, Regulo Tacderas (Mariette), Alfonso
Tacderas (Erma), Mario Tacderas (Precy) and Carmenchu Tacderas Mungcal (Marcelo). She also leaves
behind her nephews and nieces, Jermaine, Jay-Jay, Marlowe, Ralph, Marianne , Michael, Carissa and
Faith.
Malou was strong willed person and very passionate about her job and received Employee of the Year
award during her tenure at Palmetto General Hospital. She find peace by traveling around the globe and
orchid gardening. She will be remembered for all the heart she shared with friends and family. She will
truly be missed and will never, ever be forgotten.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life, which will occur with details to be
shared soon.

From Malou’s classmates in UST nursing ‘74, our sincerest sympathy to her siblings. She was groomed well to be a strong willed personality as a nurse in UST. We are happy that we shared her student life especially living with her at the UST dormitory. Rest in Peace, Malou Susan Tan
