Obituary
MARJORIE COLES PENNY of Vero Beach, Florida, died on April 26 at the fantastic age of 96.
Marjorie was the adoring wife of Donald L. Penny who died June 30th, 2016, and the loving mother of Jacqueline Coles Penny and Bradford D. Penny and his wife Linda, also of Vero Beach.
Born on December 18th, 1927, in Stoneham, Massachusetts, Marjorie was the daughter of John T. and Thelma McClure Coles and the sister of Jack Coles, Jr.
In 1948 Marjorie married Don Penny, the love of her life. They lived in Andover and Boston, MA , on Quivett Neck, Cape Cod and in West Covehead, Prince Edward Island, Canada, before retiring to Vero Beach where they were members of the John’s Island Club for nearly 50 years.
Marjorie’s successful business, Marjorie Penny Interiors, was a source of great pride for her and her family. During her long career, she was proud to have done excellent work all over the eastern seaboard and to have been published in many magazines, newspapers, and books. She loved her work, saying “I can’t wait to get up every morning.”
Her love of beauty and fine things knew no bounds. She adored and admired many of her clients and their families.
Marjorie will be remembered by all for her positive outlook and her unending joie de vivre. She said repeatedly that she was fortunate to have lived a wonderful life. Marjorie had a kind heart and a ready smile; she will be greatly missed.
