Obituary
Mrs. Mary Evelyn Dimmett, Greenwood, passed away on the early morning of Tuesday, January 24, 2023. She was 84. Mary was born January 1, 1939 in Metamora, Indiana, a daughter of the late Rev. Charles and Myrtle (Brewer) Hunter.
Mary was a graduate of Brookville High School in Brookville, Indiana and had been employed in the capsule manufacturing area with Eli Lilly & Company and enjoyed a 30 year long career with them before retiring in 1993.
Mary loved the outdoors and spent many pleasurable hours caring for her flower gardens. She and her husband, Dave, lived for nearly 20 years in the rolling hills of Brown County where she would watch and feed the many species of wildlife that would occasionally come by their home to visit. They enjoyed traveling and wintering in Florida. She most enjoyed the drive there which would take them off the beaten path where they enjoyed the many small towns in the southern United States. Mary would often journal their travels and note the interesting things and people they would encounter along the way. She deeply loved her family and treasured the time they could spend together.
Mary was a member of the Nashville United Methodist Church.
Mary is survived by her husband, Dave Dimmett; her daughter, Carla Sutton; her grandchildren, Joseph Sutton, Natalie (Tim) Flaharty and Jared (fiance, Maddy Crozier) Sutton; a great-granddaughter, Vivien Flaharty; her sister, Fern Wolfe; a sister-in-law, Marty Hunter as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her siblings, Faye Hunter, Wayne Hunter and Buddie Edwards.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
