Obituary

Mary Irene Halt Stratton, 72, of Ft. Wayne, died Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Mary was born March 3, 1951 to Elmer and Joyce Halt in North Liberty, Indiana. She was a graduate of Manchester College (Bachelor’s degree Education) and received IPFW (Master’s Degree Elementary Education and Teaching) She was employed by Whitley County Consolidated Schools as an Art Teacher for 16 years. She retired in 2007. While retired she enjoyed traveling the world and selling her art and handcrafted jewelry. She also enjoyed spending time with friends, spirituality, and spending time with her family. Mary survived by her children, Sue (Andy) Keller, Jeremy (Missy) Westafer, Amanda (Jake) Felkner, Beth (Daniel) Hamilton, Meredith (Ken) Trainer; mother, Joyce Halt; grandchildren, Morgan and Paige Keller, Lillian and Adara Hamilton, Taylor Westafer, Cameron Trainer and Samantha Hake, Riley and Cain Felkner; sisters, Judy Astle and Susan (Greg) Mauk; and brother, Dave Halt. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William Stratton; her father, Elmer Halt; brother Gary Halt; and grandson Wesley Trainer. Memorial visitation will be held from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
