Obituary
Michael Joseph Smith, Indianapolis, passed away on Friday January 5, 2024. He was 63 years old. Mike was born in Winchester, IN to his parents Cloyce C. Smith and Donnabelle Adams Smith. He graduated from Union City Community High School, class of 1978.
Mike worked at a variety of places throughout his life. From 1978-1982, Mike was the co-owner of Calypso Records until he moved to the state of Oklahoma. During his one year in Oklahoma, Mike worked for the State of Oklahoma in the Clerk’s office. After that, Mike decided to move back to Indiana to live with his brother. Mike worked as part of a Fire Safety Company that traveled to elementary schools across Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky to teach children fire safety for three years. Eventually Mike transitioned into serving Natalie Mack, owner of Kits and Kaboodle toy store, as a personal assistant for sixteen years. In his next chapter of his life, Mike worked with his brother for One America in the disbursement department for eleven years. Finally, Mike finished his professional career at Monon Toy Store in Broad Ripple until he decided to stop working in 2023 due to his health. Mike was a member of Roberts Park United Methodist Church since June 22, 1985. Mike was a talented acrylics artist who painted beautiful still life portraits. He generously gave his family and friends his creations to enjoy in their homes. Mike was an excellent musician who created several albums using electronic instruments. His latest album, Ocean Empire, was rated #1 in the State of Indiana in 2023. Mike was an animal lover and an avid reader in his spare time. He will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind.
Mike is survived by his brother, Dan (Brenda) Smith; his nephew, Alan Hodge Jr.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Janice Everett; his nephew, John D. Everett.
