Obituary
Robert Laurance Brannigan passed away on June 13th, 2023 at 3:00 AM.
He was born and educated in the Bronx, New York, attending Fordham Preparatory School and the New York Maritime College at Fort Schuyler. His parents, James and Josephine Brannigan predeceased him, as did his older brothers Francis L and James J Brannigan. A son, Edward J also predeceased him.
After College he sailed as a Ships Officer, traveling around the world with the Isbrandtsen Company. This qualified him for membership in the prestigious Circumnavigators Club, where he was a Governor. His Naval service was aboard USS Newport News (CA-148) as Signals Officer and Officer of the Deck underway. He then attended Fordham University School of Law and practiced law independently for over thirty years, doing both criminal trial and estate work.
For many years, he was an Extra Class Amateur Radio Operator W2EJG, achieving Honor Roll status.
He attended the Basilica of St Paul.
He is survived by a daughter Kathryn Ann Casas, his loving wife Carol Ann predeceased him. After cremation, his remains will be placed aboard the Training ship "Empire State" to be placed in the sea while on their summer training cruise.
