Obituary
Robert ‘Bob’ Ervin Daugherty Sr., 84 of Muncie peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, May 5th, 2024, following a battle with congestive heart failure.
Robert was born on September 23, 1939, in Muncie, IN, one of ten children, to the late Ernest and Eva Daugherty. He was a graduate of Muncie Central High School and went on to serve honorably in the Air Force for six years. Afterward, he moved back from California to Muncie to raise his family. He retired from the Delaware County Highway Department in 2005. Robert was a member of the Heritage Apostolic Tabernacle Church, where he worshipped using his musical gift.
Known to many; he was a talented guitarist with strong vocals, who loved to work the crowd, along with his humor, storytelling abilities, skill of poker, and always showed his love for his family and close friends.
Along with his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his wife DeAnn of 43 years, eight brothers and sisters, son-in-law Mike Gibson, and a grandson Dustin.
Survivors include his wife Wanda of 12 years, daughters Susan McQuitty (fiancé Stephen Shaffer), Vicky Hughes (Phil), Robin Gibson and Lisa Daugherty, sons Robert Jr. (Sherol), John (Denese), and Brian. He is also survived by his sister Linda Shockley (Gene), stepdaughter Vanessa Nixon (Ben) and stepson Robert Line (Susan). Also surviving are 16 loving grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Lastly, Robert and Wandas beloved dog Daisy.
Calling hours for Robert will be held on Monday, May 13th, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 1 PM at Garden View Funeral Home. The service will begin at 1:00 PM with Bishop Michael Perdue officiating and Pastor Brandon Hughes (Grandson) assisting. The burial will take place at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Air Force Military Honors by the Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
Robert ‘Bob’ Ervin Daugherty will be deeply missed, but his charism, funny stories, music and love will live on forever in the lives he has touched. We all know his sweet voice is now singing in heaven, as he is being welcomed home with open arms.
