In Loving Memory of

Sharon Sims Lazzelle

August 2nd, 1942 - January 11th, 2024

Obituary

Sharon Sims Lazzelle was born in East Bernstadt, Kentucky on Sunday, August 2, 1942 and passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at her home in Strafford, Missouri.

Sharon was the eldest of seven children and was very committed to each and every one of them. The family left Kentucky for California in 1957. In 1960, while working as a waitress at Arthur’s Drive-In (the actual Arnold’s from Happy Days) Sharon met Len Lazzelle. They married on August 19, 1960. Sharon and Len had a son, John in 1961 and a daughter, Lenae in 1967. The couple moved to the Midwest in 1969, starting in Arkansas, then Oklahoma, before settling in Missouri in 1972. Sharon and Len’s only grandchild, Cole was born in 1992. For more than 30 years, Cole has been the absolute light of their lives. Sharon and Cole were together almost every day during his childhood. When Cole moved to St. Louis in 2017, Sharon managed her schedule around Cole’s call “home” every day, after work. Nothing brought her more joy than being Cole’s Grandma.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Leonard Lazzelle, her parents Ernest and Pearl Sims, two brothers Bobby and Ricky Sims and her beloved grandparents Albert and Emma Hansel.

Sharon is survived by her children, John and Lenae Lazzelle, son-in-law, Zach Spoering, grandson, Cole Hartfield, and fiancé, Katie Meyer. In addition to her sisters, Joy Marino, Donna Tucker, Lois Lamoureux, sister-in-law, Brenda Sims, and brother, Boyd Sims, Sharon had many aunts, uncles, and cousins who meant the world to her. And no one loved their nieces and nephews more than Aunt Sharon.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-6:30 PM on Friday, January 19, 2024 at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel.
