Obituary
Sharon Ann Millis (Carberry), 77, was surrounded by friends and family prior to her passing, due to natural causes, on Friday January 26th. Born on March 14, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa, she was the eldest of the two children of John W. Carberry, Jr. and Irma Carberry. Sherry was born and raised in Des Moines where she graduated from Roosevelt High School. She went on to attend the University of Iowa and then Drake University from where she ultimately earned her degree. She then went on to earn a master’s degree in education from the University of North Texas. Sherry married Edward Alan Millis in 1970 (divorced in 1982) with whom she had two children who survive her, Bert John Millis and Julie Millis Freidus. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Colby Alexander Millis and Lindsey Elizabeth Millis whom she doted on and adored. Sherry was a highly respected educator in the Volusia County School System where she spent over thirty years as a teacher and guidance counsellor at Holly Hill Junior High/Middle School and finishing the last few years of her career as a guidance counsellor at Creekside Middle School. Her Son-in-Law, Eli Freidus, credits her as the reason he became a teacher, a profession which he loves. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother as well as a dedicated educator and counsellor. Arrangements are under the care of Lohman Funeral Home in Ormond Beach. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Halifax Humane Society or Sophie’s Circle Dog Rescue.
