Obituary
Susan “Diane” Kell, 66, of Collinsville, IL, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2022 at her residence surrounded by loved ones.
Diane was born to the late Carl and Betty (nee Parson) Flowers on March 3, 1956 in St Louis, MO. From the time she was born, she was raised in church where her strong Christian beliefs were instilled. It was through these beliefs; Diane met Lloyd “Mike” Kell at the age of 16 during a church picnic.
Diane graduated from Collinsville High School in 1974. She was united in marriage to her long time love, Mike, on May 24, 1975 at the Trinity Pentecostal Church of God in Fairview Heights, IL. To this union, 2 children were born. As a military family, they were stationed in Hawaii and North Carolina before returning home to Collinsville where they raised their children and continued to live by their mantra “the best is yet to come”. Diane worked as a desk clerk at Osborn Cleaners for 34 years.
Mike and Diane celebrated their grandchildren, bickered, laughed, loved and served God together until his passing in 2015.
Diane crossed off a few “bucket list” items, including: going back to Hawaii (her favorite) and visiting the Ark encounter before retiring in 2022. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending as much time with her grandchildren as possible.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother Frank Flowers. Left to carry on her memory are her children Jason (Stacia) Kell of Collinsville and Jamie (Edward) Jones of Waterford, Ireland; sister Carla (Leonard) Estrada of Mayfield, KY ; sisters-in-law, Muriel Flowers of Crystal City, MO.; and Rhonda Larimore of Farmington, MO,; grandchildren Makenzie Kell, Gabriella, Everley and Edward Jones; aunts Betty LeSeure of Columbia, MO. and Alberta Flowers of Ellington, MO.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends.
A visitation will be held at Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville from 10-11 a.m. on November 15, 2022; with a funeral service in the chapel at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at 12:45 pm at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Matt, Arkeila, Amber and Beverly at Unity Hospice for providing excellent care for their loved one at her time of need.
