Obituary for Thomas Killebrew
Thomas Lee Killebrew, 80, of Chattanooga, peacefully departed from this world on Friday, December 22, 2023, surrounded by the love of his wife and family in the comfort of his home. He was born November 1, 1943, in Chattanooga to Robert, Sr. and Lottie Killebrew. Throughout his professional journey, Thomas spent numerous years at Mueller Company, where he eventually retired. He found joy in sports, nurturing his garden, and caring for his beloved fish. To know Thomas, was to understand his love for clocks; hanging one in every corner in every room. Known for his kind words and sage advice, he touched the lives of all who crossed his path. A man passionate about family, Thomas dedicated himself to their wellbeing. He became a member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in 1975, serving on the Usher Board until his health no longer allowed. Thomas deeply valued his friendship with Roy Lewis of Chattanooga and the companionship of neighbors Johnny Rollins, Curtis Maxwell, and Chris Hereford. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beulah Mae Fielder; brother, Robert Killebrew, Jr.; and nephew, Daral Killebrew. Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 54 years, Lula W. Killebrew; two daughters, Janice D. (Arnold) Walker of Ooltewah, TN and Tracy (Alonzo) of Chattanooga; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; beloved nieces and nephews; cousins; other cherished relatives and friends, all of whom held a special place in his heart. Thomas will lie-in-state on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Ternae Jordan, Sr. as the eulogist. Burial in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
