Obituary

Wayne Allen Deavers, 92, of Muncie, Indiana, passed quietly and peacefully to join our Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 13, 2024.
Wayne was born on December 16, 1931 and raised on his family’s farm off of old Macedonia in the Muncie/Cowan area. He enjoyed playing basketball while attending Cowan schools, where he graduated in 1948. In 1949, he began working at Warner Gear and enjoyed camping, being involved in local politics, and was active as a member of the Moose Lodge #33. After 37 years of service as a Quality Control Inspector, Wayne retired in 1986. He spent many of his years after retirement spending time with his wife, Margie, and their family, while remaining very active with the Moose Lodge as an administrator as well as a lifetime member.
Wayne was a loving father and constant companion who lived by example every day to show his children quiet strength, gentle compassion and unconditional love. He, along with his wife, Margie, spent many years organizing and funding fundraisers, as well as providing for children and families in need through Mooseheart, a residential childcare facility in Illinois, founded by the Moose Fraternal Organization.
Wayne is preceded by his parents, Vaughn Deavers and Edith Abrell Deavers White, along with his wife of fifty years, Margie Mae (Adams) Deavers, his daughter Susan Diane (Deavers) Cowsert, grandson Donald Gibson, brothers Robert Deavers (widow - Janet, Muncie) and Norman Deavers, and sisters Nancy (Deavers) Grady (Wayne, Florida), and Martha Deavers.
