Obituary

Funeral service will be at 2:30pm Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Crestwood Chapel for William “Butch” White, age 72, of Glencoe, AL. Butch passed away on Saturday July 27, 2024. The family will receive friends from 12:30 prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home will direct services.
Butch was a lifetime resident of Etowah County. He was a graduate of Glencoe High School, Class of 1969. He had served his community in many ways; he had retired from the City of Gadsden Fire Department as a firefighter, served as a councilman for the city of Glencoe, and had served on the Etowah County Commission. He always managed to keep busy and had even worked as a plumber.
He is preceded in death by his parents Homer and Annie White and sisters Demyrle Whorton, Otho Pentecost, and Marie Alexander.
Butch is survived by his children Regina Rowland (Buzz) and Patrick White (Amy); grandchildren Hunter Rowland, Cole Rowland, Reid White (Monica), Jackson White, Jase White, and Jacob White; great grandson Beau White; Sisters Ann Smith, Joyce Armstrong, Nancy Fuhrman, and Glennis Collins (Andy); special friends David East, Jackie Alford, and Joe Cothran; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice and SICU of Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
