Obituary

William (Bill) M. Howington passed away on January 28, 2024 at the age of 82. He was the husband of (Debra) Jan Howington with whom he shared over 36 years of love and adventure.

Bill was born on April 6, 1941 in Tampa, FL and was the son of William H. Howington and Nell M. Howington. He graduated from Edgewater High School in Orlando, FL in 1959. After graduating, Bill proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Bill attended Rollins College in Winter Park, FL where he received a Bachelor of General Studies. He began his 32-year telephony career with Winter Park Telephone Company (United Telephone) as a lineman and retired in 1993 as the Supervising Engineer - Special Services. Bill was also a licensed Certified General Contractor.

In 1998, Bill and Jan relocated to Sebastian so they could enjoy retirement and build their dream home close to the Indian River. Bill was happiest when he was outdoors. He was an avid boater, gardener, sports car enthusiast (SCCA & PCA) and loved to work on his antique Triumph motorcycles. Bill will be remembered for his incredible sense of humor, quick wit, and love of all animals, especially his cats, Robbie, Julia, and Chester.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jan Howington, daughter, Linda (Tobin) Antpusat, grandson, Tobin (Payton) Dale, granddaughter Kaitlin (David) Meister, niece, Allyson (Joseph) King, and niece, Cathryn Bootes. He is predeceased by his father, William H. Howington, mother, Nell M. Howington, and nephew, Bryan Bootes.

At this time, no memorial services are planned as that was Bill’s wish.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to H.A.L.O. No-Kill Rescue at 710 Jackson St., Sebastian, FL 32958 or www.halorescuefl.org.
