Obituary
Wilma (Mitzi) Jeanne Lemmer Sprague went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on July 29, 2023, at Baptist Heart Hospital in Jacksonville, FL at the age of 76. She was born November 17, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA, and married her high school sweetheart, George Lee Sprague, Jr. on June 15, 1968.
Mitzi graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1964 and Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1968 with a Bachelors in Education. She taught Spanish at Penn Hills High School before the birth of their first son, on her 25th birthday. After that, she became a devoted mother, and served in various Sunday School ministries while raising her four children.
Mitzi was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose selfless heart and infectious laugh touched all who knew her. A tremendous blessing to her family and friends, she was known for her joyful spirit, beautiful and ever-present smile, generosity, encouraging nature and love for the Lord. Mitzi and George moved to Jacksonville in 1999, and shortly thereafter, they became members of First Baptist Church, where she served the Lord with gladness.
Mitzi was preceded in death by her parents William J. and Margaret (Eisley) Lemmer and her siblings William and Angela Lemmer. She is survived by her husband, George Sprague, Jr. and her children Michael Sprague (Courtney) of Austin, TX; Mark Sprague of Jacksonville, FL; Marsha Garrison (Mark) of Washington, NJ; and Michelle Lytle (Luke) of Portage, MI. She leaves behind eight grandchildren: Ashley Garrison, Keira Garrison, Shepherd Sprague, Sawyer Sprague, Addison Lytle, Sage Sprague, Brock Lytle, Cambria Lytle, as well as her extended family.
Mitzi and George celebrated 55 years of marriage last month.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 from 12-2pm at Arlington Park Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Florida. A Celebration of Life Service will follow immediately at 2pm.
